Being on time to your appointment can make or break the end results.

I often hear from a client running late, "Do as much as you can!" in reference to applying as many lashes as possible with the time left in their scheduled appointment.

*Insert internal panic!*

I have found that the importance of being on time to an appointment hasn't been conveyed by many lash artists in a way that a client truly understands. I wanted to lay out the structure of a typical appointment and how it can be effected by arriving late.

As a lash artist. part of our job is to create an appointment structure that allows enough time to accomplish these things:

1. Arrival: Use restroom, pick a playlist, settle in.
2. Properly prepare lashes: Prep eye area with eye pads, cleaning, removing old and outgrown extensions.
3. Apply new lashes: The best part!
4. Check out: Schedule next follow up, answer any questions.

While the entire appointment consists of essentially these 4 steps, 3 out of 4 steps cannot be omitted or shorted. Can you guess which step will be cut short? You guessed it! Step 3: Application of new lashes.

A late arrival will be cutting into the time reserved for the application of new lashes (which is the best part, right?!). In cutting that time short I am potentially unable to apply as many extensions needed to bring your lash line back up to its full potential to meet client expectations.

So how do we avoid this? Of course arriving on time will insure there is enough time for a proper application but going the extra mile to arrive 10 min early can set you up for success. Use these extra 10 minutes to find parking, use the restroom, cleanse lashes if needed, and fill out any potential client forms will help you get the absolute most out of your appointment.

It is important to also note that many lash artists do have a specified amount of time allowed to arrive late in their policies. This time usually indicates the latest arrival time allowed before simply being unable to offer you the best quality service. It is important to read each artists policies prior to booking so you may ask questions or prepare for your arrival.

I write this in hopes of bringing a better understanding between client and artist in terms of how a late arrival can alter your lash services. I strive to provide every client with quality services and reserve appointment time just for you!

See you at your next appointment!
